Hello. The computer I've been playing Warcraft on has to be re-formatted. Is there any way of backing up my game progress or transferring it to another PC?
Thanks in advance for any help. |

sadly if you are going to reformat you will most likely have to reinstall the WoW client along with Downloading and installing the most recent patch(s).
I know, a huge pain, but it must be done. If you have a secondary hard drive you could always keep the patches on it and reformat the primary hard drive, reinstall JUST the client and then reinstall the patches....this way you wouldnt have to download the patches AGAIN. But if your worrying about player data and your "saved game" there is nothign to worry about; all player data is saved on your server so there is no way to erase it by way of reformat. GL with the reformat. =D |

I'll assume that by "Warcraft" you meant WoW. If that is the case, then your game is already saved for you - when you reinstall WoW and download all the patches again (ack, that will take a while,) your game will be ready and waiting for you to continue playing.
EDIT: MaTT beat me to it by tenths of a second ![]() |

No need to worry about the removeal of WoW and its patchs only takes few min to reinstall and to download the patchs.
And if your talking about Warcraft as in WC3 or TFT then, I'm not sure ask someone with brains. |

If it's the Warcraft saved games that you are worried about, then just go find the map with the saved games in it on your computer and put it on a cd or something.
As for WoW, all character and account data is saved externally (i.e. not on your computer) so reformatting isn't a problem. You'll have to reinstall the game and download all the patches again, though. |
